Discover Darjeeling
The most popular experience while visiting Darjeeling is taking a ride on its famous toy train which was built by British engineers in 1881. This narrow-gauge railway follows an enchanting track through hillsides and tea plantations offering incredible views of mountains, waterfalls and charming little villages.
Another great experience is taking a stroll around Mall Road, where you will find plenty of shops selling souvenirs as well as some old-fashioned cafes serving hot coffee and delicious local snacks. The nearby Mountaineering Institute offers guided treks for visitors looking for more adventure. You can also visit Tiger Hill to catch an unforgettable sunrise over Mt Kanchenjunga or explore one of the many Buddhist monasteries scattered across town including Ghoom Monastery - one of Darjeeling's oldest attractions dating back to 1875.
