Visit Aceh

Aceh is a province of Indonesia located at the northern end of Sumatra. It has a rich and varied history, which is reflected in its vibrant culture today. The most famous tourist location to visit in Aceh is Banda Aceh, the provincial capital city. Banda Aceh offers a range of attractions from historical monuments to religious sites, and it's also known for its beautiful coastal scenery. Other places to visit include Lhokseumawe, where you can explore its many mosques, or Ulee Lheue Beach for beautiful sunsets over the Indian Ocean.

Aceh has been at the center of numerous conflicts throughout history; it was home to many kingdoms as well as an independent Islamic sultanate since the 16th century AD. During that time, Aceh managed to become an important trading port due to its strategic location on the Strait of Malacca. In 2004, a devastating tsunami hit Aceh leaving thousands dead and causing great destruction in some areas - but despite this tragedy, the proud people of Aceh have been able to rebuild their lives and communities with resilience and strength.
