Visit North Sumatra

North Sumatra is a province of Indonesia located in the northern part of the island of Sumatra. It is bordered by six other provinces, including Aceh and West Sumatra to the west. The provincial capital is Medan, which is also the country's third largest city. With over 14 million people living in its vast expanse of land, North Sumatra boasts a rich history as well as stunning natural beauty.

The region has some incredible spots for tourists to visit such as Lake Toba - one of Indonesia's deepest natural lakes - and Sipiso-piso waterfall cascading over a cliff face more than 120 meters high. Trekking through Bandar Baru National Park or visiting Berastagi's hot springs are great opportunities to appreciate the region's unique wildlife and landscapes.

One interesting historical fact about North Sumatra is that it was once home to an advanced kingdom called Siak Sri Indrapura that flourished from 1723 until 1945 before being annexed by colonial forces during World War II.
