Visit Special Region of Yogyakarta


The Special Region of Yogyakarta is a unique region located in the southern part of Central Java, Indonesia. It is home to some of the country's most beautiful and historical sites. The region has a rich cultural heritage; it was once the capital of an ancient Indonesian kingdom and is now home to many interesting attractions, Such as Borobudur temple, one of the world's largest Buddhist monuments, and Prambanan Temple Complex with its multiple Hindu temples.

For those interested in culture there's also Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace where visitors can observe traditional Javanese courtly life. Adventure seekers can explore Kalibiru National Park, which offers plenty of outdoors activities such as hiking trails and zip-lining tours.

Yogyakarta played an important role in Indonesia's history; it was here that the first republican government was formed during Indonesian independence in 1945 by Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta who are still celebrated today as national heroes. That same year they ratified The Pancasila Constitution, considered one of Indonesia's most important documents.
