Visit Kurdistan Province

Kurdistan Province is one of the thirty-one provinces of Iran. Situated primarily in western Iran, it has an area of 28,800 square kilometers and a population of over 4 million people. It borders Iraq's Kurdistan Region and has its own distinct culture and language. The province is renowned for its beautiful nature - lush forests, fertile plains, snow-capped mountains - which makes it a great tourist destination.

The capital city (Sanandaj) and many other cities like Baneh are popular among tourists who visit to explore the local cuisine or shop at the bustling bazaars for carpets, pottery, jewelry and more. For breathtaking views you can go on a hike up the majestic Alvand mountain range or explore Mahabad Lake located in nearby Mahabad City.

An interesting historical fact about Kurdistan Province is that Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani was born here in 1903. He was instrumental in leading rebellions against oppressive governments during the 20th century as he pushed to secure greater autonomy for Kurds living across different countries in the Middle East region.
