Visit Mazandaran Province

Mazandaran is a beautiful province located in the north of Iran, bordering the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. It has become an increasingly popular tourist destination for its stunning beaches, lush tropical forests and abundant wildlife. The capital city of Sari is particularly renowned for its historical sites and museums that offer insight into Iran's complicated past and culture.

Two must-see tourist destinations in Mazandaran are Ramsar and Tonekabon. Ramsar features picturesque lakeside villas, as well as hot springs with healing powers said to have been discovered by ancient Persian kings. Tonekabon is home to some breathtaking temples, including Masjed-e Jami Mosque, one of the most famous landmarks in the region.

An interesting historical fact about Mazandaran is that it was once part of one of the oldest civilizations on earth -the Aryan civilization- which existed around 2000 BC! The remnants of this historic civilization can still be found throughout Mazandaran today including fascinating ruins such as those at Takht-e Soleyman or Takht-e Jamshid near Sari.
