Visit Semnan Province


Semnan Province is an area located in the north of Iran. The province is home to many ancient and historical sites, including the Arg-e Bam, a citadel that dates back to the Achaemenid period. The bustling city of Semnan is also an important site for religious tourism with its shrines; also noteworthy are its well preserved mosques from the Safavid and Qajar periods.

Amongst many other attractions, there are two popular tourist spots in Semnan Province. The first is Gonbade Kolah Farkhar - a small lake located south of Shahmirzad County which attracts numerous visitors due to its scenic beauty and wildlife that can be spotted around the site. Another recommended destination is Golestan National Park in Damghan City, where tourists can explore lush nature trails surrounded by stunning mountain views or take part in water-related activities such as rafting and kayaking along Haraz River.

One interesting historical fact about Semnan Province is that it was part of the major Silk Road trading route between China and Persia during Sasanian Empire (224-651). This made Semnan an important hub for cultural exchange between different regions at the time
