Visit Yazd Province

Yazd Province is located in the middle of Iran, and has been dubbed the "City of Windcatchers." It is one of Iran's most popular tourist destinations due to its many historical monuments, mosques, and caravanserais. Yazd boasts a spectacular array of architecture from different dynasties including the Achaemenid Empire, Seljuqs, and Ilkhanids. The city consists of a vast network of wind catchers which were built as an ingenious way to cool the interiors during hot summers.

Two interesting places to visit in Yazd Province are Dowlatabad Garden and Amir Chakhmagh Square. Dowlatabad Garden is a masterpiece of Persian garden design with beautiful waterways leading up to a pavilion in the center which provides shade for guests during hot summer days. Amir Chakhmagh Square is surrounded by traditional bazaars on all sides housing shops selling crafts such as pottery, carpets, jewelry and other souvenirs.

A fascinating historical fact about Yazd Province is that it was once at the heart of Persia's Zoroastrian culture due to its isolation from other Islamic regions during conquests; religious minorities were able to practice their faith without any disruption until around 800 AD when Islam spread across Persia following conquest by Arab forces.
