Discover Abbeyfeale

Abbeyfeale is a small rural town in West County Limerick, Ireland. Located near the River Feale and close to the border with Kerry, Abbeyfeale is surrounded by rolling green hills and lush countryside. The town itself has a population of just over 1,500 people, but draws visitors from far and wide who come to experience its unique charm.

Abbeyfeales main attraction is the ruins of Corcomroe Abbey which sits atop a hill overlooking the town. Dating back to 1198 AD this ancient site was once home to an order of Augustinian monks and offers stunning views over the surrounding landscape.

For those looking for something more unique there's St Brigid's Cross; an unusual relic believed to have been made by Saint Brigid herself during her time in Ireland as a missionary from Wales in 5th century AD. Each February locals celebrate Imbolg at this sacred site by carrying out traditional rituals of blessing and thanksgiving for good health during the coming year.

No visit would be complete without sampling some traditional Irish food served up at one of Abbeyfeales many pubs or restaurants like Shannons Bar & Restaurant on Main Street; renowned for its tasty seafood dishes!
