Visit Isle of Man

The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown dependency nestled in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. Known for its rugged coastline, medieval castles, and rural landscapes, it offers a unique blend of Celtic and Viking heritage. The island's capital, Douglas, is home to the Manx Museum, which illustrates the island's Celtic and maritime past. The iconic Laxey Wheel, also known as Lady Isabella, is another must-visit. It was built in 1854 to pump water from the Laxey mines and is the world's largest working waterwheel. The island is also famous for the annual TT (Tourist Trophy) motorcycle races, a dangerous and high-speed event that attracts daredevil riders from all over the world. An interesting historical fact is that the Isle of Man was once part of the Norwegian Kingdom of the Hebrides until it was ceded to Scotland in the 13th century. The island has its own parliament, the Tynwald, which is believed to be the oldest continuous parliamentary body in the world.
