Historical, Monument ~ 2 hours

Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Roma RM

The Pantheon is an ancient temple located in Rome, Italy. It was built by emperor Hadrian between 118 and 125 AD, and is one of the best preserved ancient monuments in the city. It also serves as a major tourist attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year to marvel at its impressive architecture.

The interior is decorated with Corinthian columns that support a spectacular dome with a central oculus that beams light into the space below. Visitors can observe impressive statues of gods and emperors which flank the main entrance and pay homage to Roma’s past grandeur. Inside they can also find tombs of historical figures such as Renaissance artist Raphael and Italian kings Vittorio Emanuelle II and Umberto I.

Plan your visit

When planning a visit to the Pantheon in Rome, here are some tips and tricks to keep in mind: 1) Visit during early morning or late afternoon hours when it is less crowded. 2) If you plan on taking pictures, consider bringing a tripod for better lighting. 3) Wear comfortable shoes as there can be large groups of people walking through the ancient corridors. 4) Bring water and snacks as there are no places inside to buy food or drinks. 5) Be prepared to spend at least an hour inside - its fascinating history deserves that!
