Visit Portland Parish

Portland is a parish located on the northeast coast of Jamaica. It is known as the birthplace of Reggae music, as well as its beautiful beaches, lush forests and rich cultural heritage. Popular tourist attractions in Portland include the Blue Lagoon - a crystal-clear, deep-blue lake surrounded by steep walls - and Frenchman's Cove beach, with its calm waters and fine white sand.

The parish is also home to some interesting historical sites such as Fort George, an old British military fort built in 1729; Folly Estate House which dates from 1688; and Port Antonio Marina which was where many Hollywood stars stayed when visiting Jamaica during the 1950s and 1960s. An interesting fact about Portland is that it was once home to actor Errol Flynn who lived at Navy Island in 1938. He allegedly spent much of his time fishing for marlin off Port Antonio!
