Visit Saint Elizabeth Parish

The Saint Elizabeth Parish of Jamaica is situated in the south-west corner of the island and is bordered by Manchester to the north, Westmoreland to the west, and Clarendon to the east. It is a beautiful region of lush vegetation and rolling hills, with plenty of attractions for tourists. Those looking for historical attractions should visit Lovers Leap - an old slave plantation site - or Accompong Town - an 18th century Maroon settlement. For natural wonders there are YS Falls, Appleton Estate Rum Tour & Tastings which offer great views of the Caribbean Sea; Bamboo Avenue with its mile long stretch of trees that were planted over 200 years ago; or Black River Safari for some adventure on Jamaican rivers!

Additionally, Saint Elizabeth Parish has many interesting historical facts attached to it. The area was originally part of St James Parish until 1840 when it was separated from its northern neighbor and renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth I who reigned during 1603-1625. Throughout its history, St Elizabeth has been home to many notable figures including Marcus Garvey - one of Jamaica's national heroes - and Bob Marley - a world famous musician who grew up in Nine Mile - both located within this parish!
