Visit Akita Prefecture

The Akita Prefecture of Japan is a stunning region located in the northernmost part of the country. With breathtaking natural beauty, it is no surprise that it is home to several national parks and nature reserves.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in the prefecture is Oga Aquarium, where visitors can see white-spotted dolphins and sea lions swimming among hundreds of fish species. Another must-visit is Lake Tazawa, Japan's deepest lake and one of its most beautiful bodies of water.

Akita has a fascinating history as well - it was once known as Mutsu Province, named after an ancient Japanese god. The province served as a major center for samurai culture during the Edo Period (1603-1867). Today, there are several museums dedicated to this period in Akita Prefecture where visitors can explore artifacts from bygone days.
