The Amman Governorate is Jordan's capital and largest city, located in the northwest of the country. It is a vibrant metropolis with an archaeological past that stretches back to the Iron Age. Visitors will find plenty to explore here, from its ancient Roman ruins to modern attractions like the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.

One must-see tourist spot in Amman is The Citadel, located atop a hill overlooking the entire city. It features remains from various civilisations that have passed through over thousands of years as well as beautiful views of modern Amman below. Another popular destination for travellers is Rainbow Street, where you can find shops selling traditional goods and fun restaurants with live music.

Amman also has an interesting history due to its strategic location between Arabia and Mesopotamia. Evidence suggests it was inhabited since Neolithic times and was once known as "Rabbath-Ammon" under King David's rule in 950 BC. Today it continues to thrive as one of Jordan's major cities and a wonderful destination for visitors exploring this fascinating region!
