The Ma'an Governorate is situated in the south of Jordan, close to the borders of Saudi Arabia and Israel. It covers an area of over 22,000 square kilometers and is home to a population of approximately 240,000 people.

Ma'an has many interesting tourist destinations such as Petra Archeological Park and Mujib Nature Reserve. Petra Archeological Park is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and contains a variety of archaeological remains from various ancient civilizations that have lived in this region since 7000 BC. At Mujib Nature Reserve visitors can experience breathtaking natural landscapes including deep canyons, narrow ravines, waterfalls and lush vegetation along with abundant wildlife living in its diverse ecosystem.

Ma'an also has rich historical significance going back centuries ago when it was occupied by Nabataeans who left behind numerous monuments throughout the area such as Dhiban Castle which dates back to 6th century AD. The castle features walls constructed from large boulders filled with cobblestones which are believed to be connected to religious rituals from pre-Islamic times.
