The Madaba Governorate is one of Jordan's most historically important regions. It is found in the northwest part of the country, close to Amman. Famous from Biblical times and known for its biblical mosaics, there are many touristy places to visit in Madaba.

The first must-see spot is the remains of Mount Nebo, where Moses was believed to have seen the Promised Land before his death. The second place is the St George's Church which holds some of Jordan's oldest Christian mosaics - dating back to over 1,500 years ago - that depict many scenes from Jesus' life on earth.

An interesting fact about this region includes its great archaeological finds during excavations done in Madaba such as pottery vessels and coins dated between 2200 BC and 63 BC which shed light into how people lived during those times.
