Visit Aqtöbe

Aqtobe is a region in northern Kazakhstan, located on the west bank of the Ural River. The area is known for its vast steppes and desert landscapes, as well as its large oil and gas reserves. Aqtobe serves as an important transport hub for the country, with highways connecting it to Moscow and other major cities in Central Asia and Russia.

A must-see tourist destination in Aqtobe is Lake Zhalanashkol - one of Kazakhstan's largest lakes - which offers a variety of activities that range from fishing to boating to hiking. Another popular attraction is Karatai Natural Reserve, where visitors can observe rare birds like Azure Titmouse or Grey-headed Woodpecker.

Historically speaking, Aqtobe has been part of various empires such as the Golden Horde and Kazakh Khanate since 1240 AD. It was also occupied by Islamized Nogays during the 16th century after which it became a part of Russian Empire until 1917 when Kazakhstan declared independence from Imperial Russia.
