Visit Nur-Sultan

Nur-Sultan, formerly known as Astana, is the capital city of Kazakhstan. It's an attractive and modern city built on a steppe landscape in the north of the country. The broad streets are lined with futuristic buildings and monuments, while parks filled with lush greenery offer pleasant spots to relax.

One major attraction is Nur-Astana Mosque, a grand mosque featuring traditional Islamic architecture combined with modern designs that reflect the city's forward thinking attitude. Another must-see spot is Khan Shatyr Shopping Centre - an impressive tent-shaped mall surrounded by gardens and fountains.

Historically speaking, it was once home to one of Genghis Khan's most powerful descendants - Kirey Khan - who ruled over what would later be called Kazakhstan from 1340 until 1380 AD from his base at Esil River near Nur Sultan City.
