Visit Embu County


Embu County is located in the former Eastern Province of Kenya, bordering Meru County to the north, Tharaka-Nithi County to the east, Machakos and Kitui Counties to the south and Kirinyaga County to the west. Embu is known for its rich culture and history, with numerous tourist attractions including Mount Kenya National Park, Kiangombe Falls, Mwea National Reserve and many more.

The Mount Kenya National Park has a wide range of flora and fauna species that make it a great spot for safari trips. Visitors can also take part in other activities such as mountain climbing or just enjoying the breathtaking views from above. The Kiangombe Falls are a popular hiking destination with their seven-tier cascade of white foamy waterfalls coming down from 400 m high cliffs.

For those interested in religious tourism there are many churches here too like Neema Catholic Church which dates back to 1895 when missionaries first visit Embu area. An interesting historical fact about Embu is that it used to be part of Meru Kingdom before colonization by British began at end of 19th century.
