Visit Kisii County

Kisii County is located in western Kenya, forming part of the former Nyanza Province. It is renowned for its hospitality and scenic beauty. The Kisii people make up a majority of the population in this region, and it has served as a major economic center since pre-colonial times. The county capital, Kisii Town, is home to many important institutions like Egerton University's Kisii Campus and the Kenyan National Library Service's headquarters.

Kisii County contains some amazing tourist attractions which include the Kitum Cave Nature Sanctuary located near Mt Elgon National Park, where visitors can explore the mysteries of its underground labyrinths; or Lake Victoria at Nyakoe Beach which provides an ideal spot for swimming or kayaking on its pristine waters.

The region also has an interesting history tied to being one of Kenya's most influential traditional centers before independence. Its cultural artifacts go back centuries and include stone shrines found throughout the area that are believed to have been constructed by past generations as sacred sites related to their traditional beliefs and practices.
