Visit Laikipia County


Laikipia County is located in the central highlands of Kenya, between Mt. Kenya and the Rift Valley. It is renowned for its diverse wildlife and beautiful landscapes, with an abundance of savannahs, woodlands, forests and grasslands. With sun-drenched days and cool nights, Laikipia is a great destination for outdoor adventurers seeking to explore on foot or by bicycle. Two touristy places to visit include Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Ol Pejeta Conservancy which offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing such as elephant, rhino, cheetah and more! There are also many interesting historical sites in Laikipia including Fort Hall which was built by the British in 1902 as part of their campaign against the Kikuyu people during the Mau Mau rebellion. Today it serves as an important reminder of colonial history in Kenya.
