Visit Meru County


Meru County is located in the Central Highlands of Kenya, and is the home of Mt. Kenya National Park and the Meru National Park. The county has a bustling mountain town, Meru Town, which serves as its capital. The county borders Tharaka Nithi and Isiolo to the east, Laikipia to the south-west, Embu to the south-east and Nyandarua to north-west.

The area offers a wealth of natural beauty while also abundant in historical sites in both Meru Town and further afield. For those looking for unique experiences there are two popular tourist spots you can visit: Nanyuki lies on one side of Mt Kenya while Mererani lies on Tanzanian border on other side near Kilimanjaro. Visitors often take advantage of both these areas' different climates for outdoor activities such as hiking up Mount Kenya or relaxing at some local hot springs!

An interesting historical fact about Meru County is that it served as an early centre for Christian missionisation by European missionaries during colonial rule in late 19th century. They set up multiple churches which still remain today throughout region; many people travel here simply soak up history & culture that this area provides!
