Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and the largest city in East Africa. It is often referred to as "the Green City in the Sun", due to its natural beauty and sunny weather. As a major tourist destination, Nairobi offers plenty of attractions and activities to keep visitors busy. Popular sites include The Nairobi National Park, known for its vast array of wildlife; the Karen Blixen Museum, showcasing artifacts from Danish author Karen Blixen's time spent in Kenya; and Uhuru Gardens Monument, a memorial of Kenya's independence from Britain. For history buffs, there is also Jamhuri Park which boasts an ethnographical museum with exhibits on traditional Kenyan culture and customs. Additionally, all around Nairobi you'll find delicious food stalls selling local delicacies such as Nyama Choma (barbecued meat) and chapati (flatbread). An interesting historical fact about Nairobi is that it was founded by British settlers in 1899 as a base for their construction of a railway line connecting Mombasa to Uganda.
