Visit Nyandarua County


Nyandarua County is located in the Central Province of Kenya. It is a beautiful region that is full of lush green hills and mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and forests. The area has an abundance of wildlife, with several species such as elephants, giraffes and zebras living there. Nyandarua has a rich cultural heritage dating back to ancient times when it was first inhabited by the Kikuyu people. A major tourist attraction in the county is Ol-Joro Orok Falls which consists of three tiers cascading down from various heights offering magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. Another popular spot is Lake Ol Bolossat Nature Reserve where visitors can go for boat rides or take part in bird watching activities. An interesting historical fact about Nyandarua County is that during World War I it was used by allied forces as a military base for training and operations against German forces in East Africa.
