Kitale

Trans-Nzoia County is a vibrant region located in the western portion of Kenya. The county, which covers an area of 4,004 kilometers squared, has a population of 1 million. The county is divided into nine constituencies with each constituency representing the major ethnic group in the region.

The Trans-Nzoia County boasts lush greenery and breathtaking mountain scenery. One must visit tourist destinations such as Saiwa Swamp National Park to witness the abundance of wildlife that lives there, including elephants, bush buck and vervet monkeys; or Kiptagich Tea Estate and its sprawling tea plantations.

An interesting historical fact about Trans-Nzoia County is that it was previously part of Uasin Gishu District until 1976 when it was decentralized to create an independent district with headquarters at Kitale Town Council offices or Municiple Council Headquarters as it's known today.
