Visit Uasin Gishu District

The Uasin Gishu District is located in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is a major agricultural and industrial center, and home to over 1 million people. The area is well known for its vibrant cultural activities, which include music and dance festivals as well as traditional ceremonies. The main economic activities are farming, livestock rearing, tea production and manufacturing.

One of the region's most popular tourist attractions is the white-tailed mongoose sanctuary near Kerio Valley, where visitors can observe these unique animals in their natural habitat. There are also several national parks nearby including Saiwa Swamp National Park with its diverse wildlife and stunning scenery; Cheploch Gorge with waterfalls cascading down sheer cliffs; and Sigor Hot Springs where visitors can take a dip in steamy natural hot springs surrounded by jungle-like vegetation.

Uasin Gishu District also has an interesting historical aspect - it was named after the Maasai chief Uasinkishu who first settled there in 1911 during colonial times. This makes it one of Kenya's oldest districts that still retains much of its original charm today.
