Visit Ferizaj

Ferizaj is a city in Kosovo located in the Ferizaj District. It is the third largest city in Kosovo with a population of approximately 70,000 people. Ferizaj is known for its vibrant culture and rich history, as it has been inhabited since ancient times by several different civilizations such as Illyrians, Romans and Slavs. The Ottoman Empire also occupied the city from 1455 until 1912.

Ferizaj offers visitors plenty of things to do and see including the National Museum of Kosovo, Ancient Roman ruins at Ulpiana and the Ottoman-era Ferizaj Castle. There are also many parks around town perfect for walking or having a picnic such as Sevdie Park or Gypsy Park.

An interesting historical fact about Ferizaj is that during World War II it was occupied by Nazi Germany from April 1941 until November 1944 when it was liberated by Yugoslav Partisans with assistance from local Albanians. Today, Ferizaj remains an important cultural center in Kosovo and visitors can experience its unique history firsthand through exploring sites like the thriving bazaar on Freedom Square or visiting nearby villages known for their traditional crafts like embroidered walnut woodwork or handmade carpets.
