Visit Gllogovc

The Gllogovc of Kosovo is a small mountain town located in the north-central region of Kosovo. It is known for its beautiful landscapes and traditional lifestyle, as well as its unique cultural heritage and history. The town has many tourist attractions, including the Medieval Monastery of Banjska, which dates back to the 13th century and was destroyed by Serbian forces during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo. Other attractions include the Gllogovc Fortress, a castle built by Serb king Stefan Lazarevic in 1395; and Visoki Decani Monastery, an Orthodox Christian monastery built in 1327 with some of the most impressive Byzantine frescoes found anywhere in Europe.

Gllogovc is also home to several archaeological sites from medieval times that are worth visiting including Albanian Tower, Great Mosque of Zupa, Budisavije Monastery and Arilje Church. An interesting fact about Gllogovc is that it was once part of Yugoslavia before gaining independence from Serbia along with other provinces after a referendum held in 2008. Today it remains one of the few towns that still speaks both Albanian and Serbian languages interchangeably due to its long history within Yugoslavia's borders.
