Visit Obiliq


Obiliq is a small province located in the western region of Kosovo. It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Kosovo, with a population of about 63,000 people. The local economy consists mainly of agriculture and small-scale industry.

The provincial capital city, Obiliq, features a variety of cultural monuments and archaeological sites that bear witness to its rich history spanning back to Roman times. For tourists visiting this region, two places worth exploring are the Malisheve castle and Causholli Mosque which was built in 1615 by Sultan Sulejmani I. Another popular tourist attraction is the old bridge over Debra River from 10th century AD which connects Obiliq with Dakovica town in Serbia.

An interesting historical fact about Obiliq region is that it was subject to many different rulers throughout its history due to its strategic location between various empires such as Ottoman Empire and Austro-Hungarian Empire. This has resulted in an eclectic mix of cultural influences from different parts of Europe being absorbed into local culture over time.
