Visit Podujevë

Podujeve is a municipality located in the northern part of Kosovo. It is split into four administrative districts, with a total population of around 85,000 people.

Podujeve is renowned for its green meadows and rolling hills, majestic mountains and lush forests. It's also home to various historical sites and its own castle ruins dating back to the 19th century. Tourists may want to visit the 17th-century Roman Catholic church as well as the late medieval St Anthony Church. Other attractions include Sllapuzhan National Park and Malet e Sharrit Nature Reserve - two beautiful places for nature lovers to explore.

An interesting fact about Podujeve is that it was founded in 1455 by Serbian despot George Brankovic as an Orthodox Christian enclave against Ottoman rule during the Middle Ages. This resulted in a large number of Serbs settling within the area which can still be seen today through some of their cultural influences such as language, architecture, traditional costumes and cuisine.
