Discover Zveçan

Zvecan is a small town in the western region of Kosovo, less than two miles from the country's capital, Pristina. The town is home to a population of approximately 8,500 and lies on the banks of the Iber River. Connected to its past as an Ottoman trading center, Zvecan maintains an atmosphere steeped in history.

The most notable attraction in Zvecan is its imposing fortress that dates back to the 15th century when it was originally built by Sultan Murat II. It has been renovated over time and today serves as a museum with stunning views from its terrace overlooking northern Kosovo and Serbia beyond.

Visitors can also explore Zvecan's religious sites such as St Vlash Church which features murals inside dedicated to Serbian Orthodox saints and martyrs who died during World War Two for their Christian faith. Another key landmark is Ibrahim Mosque that sits on top of a hill near the fortress - making it an ideal place for visitors wishing to get some impressive aerial shots!

Finally there are numerous cafes and restaurants where one can sample traditional local cuisine - such as burek (a type of pastry made up of alternating layers of dough filo filled with cheese or meat).
