Visit Batken


The Batken region of Kyrgyzstan is a remote and ruggedly beautiful area in the south-west of the country. It is home to picturesque mountain lakes, vast green valleys, and ancient fortresses.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Batken is Lake Sary Chelek, located in a protected nature reserve. This crystal clear lake surrounded by lush forest and grasslands offers visitors stunning views and plenty of activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking.

Another popular attraction is the ancient fortress of Ak-Beshim located near Isfana city. The fortress was built in 16th century by local nobility to protect their territories from invaders. To this day it remains an important symbol for locals as well as being a great example of traditional Kyrgyz architecture.

Batken region also has interesting historical roots - the city was once part of medieval Chagatai Khanate which included parts of present day Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. It's fascinating past can be explored through various museums such as Osh History Museum or Fergana Regional Museum that are full to bursting with artifacts from throughout antiquity up until modern times.
