Visit Houaphan

Houaphan is a mountainous province of Laos located in the northeast of the country. It borders Vietnam to the east and is renowned for its lush green forests and spectacular limestone karsts. Due to its remote location, it remains relatively untouched by tourists but offers an array of activities for those who want to explore off-the-beaten track. Some touristy attractions include visiting the Tad Sae Waterfall and trekking through Ban Khai Nam Ha Protected Area, where you can explore caves, swim in pristine lakes, and spot exotic wildlife. History buffs will also appreciate Houaphan's contribution to the Lao struggle for independence from French colonial rule--specifically at Muang Samsao Cave where 30 patriots were reportedly hidden after a failed insurrection against French forces in 1904.
