Visit Luang Prabang Province


The Luang Prabang Province of Laos is located in the northern part of the country and is known for its incredible natural beauty. Its capital, Luang Prabang, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a number of ancient temples, shrines and religious monuments.

Popular tourist attractions in the province include Mount Phu Si, which offers stunning views over the city; Kuang Si Falls with its turquoise pools; and Wat Wisunarat temple which houses one of the largest Buddhas in all of Laos. Tourists can also explore the thriving marketplaces such as Talat Mroi Souk where local farmers sell their wares or hop on a traditional longboat tour to experience life on the Mekong River.

An interesting historical fact about Luang Prabang Province is that it was once ruled by Siam (Thailand) from 1707-1779 before becoming part of French Indochina from 1893-1954 when it became an autonomous state within Laos.
