Visit Vientiane Prefecture

Vientiane Prefecture is a province located in the northeastern region of Laos. This area is home to the country's capital, Vientiane, and offers stunning views of the Mekong River and lush mountains. The city itself has a unique blend of traditional Laotian architecture and French colonial-era ruins.

Known as one of Laos' most popular tourist destinations, Vientiane Prefecture has many interesting attractions to explore. Notable places include Wat Si Muang temple - an ancient religious structure dedicated to protector spirits - as well as Buddha Park - a sculpture park containing numerous Buddhist and Hindu statues from mystical beings like dragons to gods like Vishnu.

The area also boasts an array of interesting historical facts; for instance, Vientiane was once part of the ancient Khmer Empire before being taken over by Siam (Thailand) in 1778 who then ceded it to France in 1893 which they held until 1954 when it eventually became part of modern-day Laos.
