Visit Vientiane Province

Vientiane Province is located in the north-western part of Laos, bordered by Thailand and the Mekong River. The area is renowned for its picturesque landscapes including rolling hills, rich vegetation, and various waterfalls. Vientiane Province covers an area of 10,580 km2 and houses a population of 745,000 people.

The most popular tourist attractions in Vientiane Province are the Buddha Park and Pha That Luang Temple - both incredibly important religious sites with historical significance to Laos. The Buddha Park is home to 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues as well as sculptures from different mythological traditions - perfect for photographers who want to capture something special! Pha That Luang Temple dates back to 1566 AD and represents the national symbol of Laos: a three-tiered stupa with four entrances guarded by towers on each corner.

An interesting historical fact about Vientiane Province is that it was recognized as an independent Lao state back in 1560 when it separated from Lan Xang Kingdom. This autonomy was however short-lived due to Siam's invasion in 1778 which resulted in Vienitane becoming a Siamese province until 1893 when French forces liberated the region at its request.
