Latvia is a country located in Northern Europe, bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south and Russia to the east. Although small in size, it has a rich culture and stunning natural beauty that’s nothing short of breathtaking. One interesting fact about Latvia is that it is home to one of Europe’s oldest surviving wooden churches, the St. John's Church in Turaida which dates back to the 1600s.

A trip to Latvia wouldn't be complete without exploring the capital city of Riga with its beautifully preserved old-town area and cobbled streets lined with art nouveau buildings. Major points of interest here include the Riga Castle, Freedom Monument, Riga Cathedral and St Peter’s Church Tower. Visitors can also find a range of cultural activities as well as beautiful parks and gardens such as the Bremen Park and Esplanade Park for a truly unique experience.

Outside of Riga, you can explore the rest of Latvia from the coastal resort towns of Jurmala and Liepaja, where visitors can take a stroll along the beach promenade, visit exciting markets and explore Latvian cuisine at local restaurants. There are also plenty of nature reserves waiting to be explored including Gauja National Park and Slitere National Park which offer tranquil surroundings and opportunities for birdwatching, hiking or simply taking in some beautiful views.

Finally, an underrated hidden gem worth checking out while in Latvia is Kuldīga, a small town filled with wonderful architecture and home to the widest waterfall in all of Europe, the Ventas Rumba. Visitors can also take a boat ride along the River Venta in summer and see the stunning river valley from a different perspective.

Latvia is an amazing country to explore with its unique culture and beautiful landscapes that will stay with you long after your trip ends. Whether you’re looking for beachfront resorts, cultural attractions or nature reserves, Latvia has something for everyone.
