Visit Kurzeme Region

Kuldīga

Kurzeme is one of the four historical and cultural regions of Latvia. Located on the western coast, it's known for its picturesque towns, dramatic coastline, and rolling green hills. Popular tourist spots in Kurzeme include Jurmala Beach, a resort town with white sand beaches stretching along the Baltic Sea; and Kuldiga Castle, dating back to 1242 and now serving as a museum showcasing Kurzeme's history. Tourists can also explore Ventspils City Museum or take in some fresh air at Kuldiga's Central Park. For a unique experience, visit the Karosta Prison Memorial Museum in Liepaja--a Soviet military prison that has since been turned into an educational museum paying tribute to those imprisoned during Latvia's occupation by the Soviet Union. This region offers plenty of chances to explore its rich cultural heritage!
