Visit Quthing


Quthing a district located in the southern part of Lesotho is considered as one of the most popular tourist attraction for its natural beauty and historical monuments. It is known for its unique traditional attire, renowned traditional Basotho music, and dances. Tourists can explore some archaeological sites such as Qobela Cave which dates back to Iron Age. They can also visit Majoea-Makhapane Mission Station which was built in 1845 by Paris Evangelical missionaries to teach Christianity to local people.

There are many interesting places to visit like the Morija Museum & Archives which provides an insight into Lesotho's culture and history, the ruins of Koro-Koro School founded by French missionaries in 1865 or the nearby Phakoexhia Dam that is great spot for fishing enthusiasts.

One interesting fact about this region is that it once served as a battlefield during Anglo-Boer War when British forces were up against Boers who wanted independence from British rule in South Africa.
