Visit Bong


The Bong Region of Liberia is a province in the Southeast part of the country, bordering Nimba and Grand Bassa regions. It is home to one of Liberia's two international airports, Roberts International Airport. The region is known for its lush tropical forests and mountainous terrain, which offers great opportunities for hiking and camping trips.

One popular destination within the region is Wologizi Mountain National Park. This park provides visitors with stunning views of Mount Wologizi (the highest peak in Liberia) as well as many other smaller mountains surrounding it. Aside from breathtaking vistas, the park also has a rich biodiversity filled with endemic flora and fauna species that could be encountered during hikes or safaris around the area.

Another interesting location located near Bong province is Gbarnga city which serves as an important cultural hub offering locals and tourists alike plenty of entertainment options such as art galleries, museums and theaters showcasing traditional music performances throughout the year.

Historically, Gbarnga City was once a stronghold for former President Samuel Doe during his revolution against Americo-Liberian regimes in 1980s before eventually falling to rebels forces in 1990s resulting into civil war that lasted until 2003 when new government took power.
