Visit Lofa


The Lofa region or province is located in Liberia, West Africa. It borders the country of Sierra Leone and covers nearly 4,000 square miles. The region is home to a variety of unique wildlife and ecosystems such as the tropical rainforest, savannahs, swamps, and rivers. It also contains many important historical sites including the Mano River Union Bridge which connects Liberia to Sierra Leone.

One of Lofa's main tourist attractions is Gbarma Mountain National Park where visitors can explore nature trails leading to breathtaking waterfalls and enjoy amazing views from Lookout Point. Another popular destination is Salayea Town where one can observe traditional Liberian life first hand or take part in activities such as canoeing along the Gbedin River or hiking up Mount Klaye for excellent photo-ops.

An interesting historical fact about Lofa is that it was once part of an independent kingdom during pre-colonial times known as Dokieso which was established in 1753 by a group of ethnic Kissi people from Sierra Leone who settled there before being absorbed into the larger Liberian nation in 1926.
