Visit Margibi County


Margibi County is located in the central region of Liberia and is bordered by Montserrado, Grand Gedeh, and River Cess counties. It has a population of around 178,000 people spread across eight districts.

One of the tourist attractions in Margibi County is the Zwedru City and its nearby waterfalls. The city is located near the country's border with Ivory Coast and offers visitors a unique African experience. Visitors can also enjoy a refreshing hike to one of the many nearby waterfalls or take part in traditional dances like Kpo Kpoliwendu.

A unique historical fact about Margibi County relates to its involvement in Liberia's civil war when it served as an important staging area for rebel forces headed by Charles Taylor. After Taylor was elected president in 1997, his statue was erected at the entrance to Zwedru City as a symbol of appreciation for his service during this turbulent period.
