Visit Jufra

The Jufra of Libya is an area located in the central part of the country, covering much of the Sahara desert. It is known for its dry climate and strong winds, making it a popular destination for adventure travel.

Within this region are several historic sites to explore such as Qasr Al-Haj, a castle built in 1180 that was once used by Bedouin tribes as a gathering place. Another interesting spot is oasis town Ghadames, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 due to its traditional architecture and centuries-old culture.

The Jufra also has some interesting historical facts associated with it: during World War II, British forces established air bases here in order to protect their supply lines from German advances into North Africa. The region also served as one of Muammar Gaddafi's strongholds during his regime; after his downfall many locals refused to swear loyalty to Libya's new government initially.
