Visit Ţarābulus


Tarabulus, or Tripoli, is the historic capital of Libya. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, it is known for its charm and hospitality. It was founded in the 7th century BC by Phoenicians and has been occupied by many different civilizations over the centuries.

In Tarabulus there are plenty of interesting sights to explore; two of these are Gurgi Mosque and Red Castle Museum. Gurgi Mosque was built in 1840 and is one of Libya's most ornate mosques with intricate carvings decorating its walls. Red Castle Museum is an archaeological museum located inside a 16th century fortress which houses artifacts from many different civilizations spanning thousands of years.

An interesting historical fact about Tarabulus is that it changed hands more than 12 times during various wars throughout history, including World War II when it was occupied by Italy until 1951. Today, Tarabulus remains a vibrant city full of culture and history that visitors can explore while enjoying its unique charm.
