Discover Trakai

Trakai is a city located in Lithuania, just 19 miles away from the country's capital Vilnius. It is known to be one of the oldest cities in Lithuania and dates back to the 13th century. The city is made up of beautiful lakes and forests which provide an array of outdoor activities for visitors.

A must-see while visiting Trakai is the Trakai Island Castle, a medieval castle built by Grand Duke Vytautas between 1410 and 1427. This breathtaking castle was built on an island in Lake Galve and offers visitors a rich history lesson as they explore its halls and towers.

Another popular spot for tourists is Karaims Street, which features traditional Karaim architecture from centuries ago when this ethnic minority lived in Trakai. Visitors can also sample local cuisine such as kibinai - pastries filled with meat or cheese - at one of many restaurants found here.

Finally, nature enthusiasts will enjoy spending time at Aukstoji Sventoji Nature Reserve --a vast park offering plenty of trails where you can explore local flora and fauna, or simply take a peaceful walk along the lake's shoreline without distraction from modern life's hustle and bustle.
