Discover Ukmerge

 
Ukmerge is a small city located in the eastern part of Lithuania, approximately 80 kilometers northeast of Vilnius. It has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its beautiful forests and lush countryside. The city is situated on the banks of two rivers - the Merkys and the Nevezis - which provide an enjoyable outdoor experience through its woodlands, meadows, wetlands and other wildlife habitats.

One of Ukmerge's main attractions is its 19th century wooden church built in dedication to St John's Day. Its interior walls are adorned with intricate carvings that tell stories about local history and folklore. It also houses an interesting museum dedicated to Lithuanian folk art.

Visitors can also make time to explore Vaidotai hill near Ukmerge, which provides breathtaking views over the surrounding landscapes from its highest peak at 97 meters above sea level. This area has numerous hiking trails for those who wish to enjoy nature at its best as well as several picnic spots where one can take a break from their travels to admire this rural paradise.
