Visit Canton of Echternach

The Canton of Echternach is located in the southeastern corner of Luxembourg and borders Germany to the east. The area is known for its beautiful countryside, with rolling hills covered in green pastures and dense forests. The canton is also home to several lakes, including the Naturpark Echternacher See, which boasts wonderful views and a variety of wildlife.

The city of Echternach itself has plenty to offer tourists. Its 11th-century abbey is now a renowned cultural center with art galleries, concerts, festivals, classes and workshops all held within its walls throughout the year. Nearby you can visit the country's oldest botanical gardens or explore one of the many walking trails that crisscross the region.

The Canton of Echternach also holds an important place in Luxembourg's history as it was here that Henry II founded his famous abbey in 698AD - making it one of Europe's oldest monasteries still standing today! Today visitors can take part in traditional 'jumping processions' around this incredible building during Pentecost Monday celebrations each year - a truly unique experience!
