Visit Canton of Grevenmacher

The Canton of Grevenmacher is one of the 12 cantons in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, located in the extreme east of the country. It borders Germany and France and has a population of about 25,000 people.

One tourist attraction to visit is Ehnen Castle, which dates back to the 13th century and stands on a rocky hill overlooking the Moselle Valley below. It's a romantic castle ruin with amazing views across to neighboring Germany and France. Grevenmacher's second highlight is Mullerthal Trail, an 80-km (50 mi) hiking route that winds its way through lush forests and picturesque valleys dotted with traditional stone houses.

A fascinating historical fact about Grevenmacher is that it was once part of Prussian territory until 1815 when it became part of Luxembourg under provisions made by the Congress of Vienna following Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo.
