Visit Canton of Luxembourg


The Canton of Luxembourg is one of the twelve cantons of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is located in the south-west corner of the country and its capital city is Luxembourg City, also known as Luxembourg-Ville. The canton has a total population of over 161,000 and an area measuring 466 km2.

One popular tourist attraction in the Canton is Vianden Castle, set high on a cliff overlooking the picturesque Our River Valley. Dating back to the 11th century, this castle offers breathtaking views from its towers and battlements. Another great place to visit is Mersch Castle, with its charming village centre which offers shops and cafes as well as a museum detailing local history.

An interesting historical fact about this area is that it was once home to some of Europe's most influential people; for example Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Fischbach Castle near Mersch!
